THE STELLA LAB
Riparian Ecohydrology at SUNY ESF

The Stella research group studies ecological interactions in riparian zones, forested wetlands, streams, and rivers. We study how riparian communities respond to natural physical drivers and to human-altered disturbance regimes from streamflow and groundwater use, land use, drought and climate change. By developing a better understanding of these linked physical/biological systems, our work is applicable to conservation and restoration strategies in regions where ecosystem needs compete directly with human land and water use.
