THE STELLA LAB
Riparian Ecohydrology at SUNY-ESF
The Stella research group studies ecological interactions in riparian zones, forested wetlands, streams, and rivers. We study how riparian communities respond to natural physical drivers and to human-altered disturbance regimes from land development, streamflow and groundwater use, and climate change. By developing a better understanding of these linked physical/biological systems, our work is relevant for designing effective conservation and restoration strategies in regions where ecosystem needs compete directly with human land uses and water demand.
